He holds a Law degree from Universidad de Navarra (June 1978). He holds a PhD in law from the University of Bonn (FRG, March 1982) and from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (June 1983).
He was Head of the legal department at Midland Bank plc in Spain (subsequently, HSBC Bank plc, Sucursal en España). He was a founding partner and director of the law firm ALONSO UREBA, BAUZÁ Y ASOCIADOS.
Between July 2005 and July 2013, he was a founding partner of RAMÓN Y CAJAL ABOGADOS, where he was Head of the banking and litigation department. From July 2013 to December 2018 he was an international partner at Baker McKenzie Madrid and the Head of the banking and finance department.
He has extensive experience in commercial law in general, specializing in corporate and securities law, banking law, M&A and distribution law.
From 1988 to 2000, he was a professor of commercial law at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICADE.
He currently holds the position of Secretary and Legal Advisor to the board of directors of several companies, mostly family businesses.
