José María Ayala

He holds a Law degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

He is a State Attorney (Abogado del Estado) since 1989. He has served as State Attorney before the High Courts of Galicia, Asturias and Madrid, and before the Supreme Court.

Between 2005 and 2013, he was a partner at RAMÓN Y CAJAL ABOGADOS, where he was Head of the litigation department. Subsequently, and until 2018, he was a partner at Baker McKenzie.

He is a member of the Legal Committee of the General Council of Spanish Lawyers, arbitrator and lawyer of the Civil and Commercial Arbitration Court (“CIMA”), the Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, the Spanish Court of Arbitration, the ICC, and the Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Bar Association.

Since 1994 and for 20 years, he was a professor of EU Law at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICADE.
